About Ami
-
Ami Baio is the creator of Pink Tiger Games in Portland, Oregon, a game design studio dedicated to making sweet, kind games to connect people.
Her game portfolio includes You Think You Know Me (2018), Flatter Me (2020), Rabbit Rabbit (2021), Lost for Words (2022), Cloud Nine (2023), and Hurt Party (2024). Each game is inspired by different aspects of life, from social media and language to love, health, and happiness.
With seven years of experience in researching, designing, and developing card games, Ami has cultivated a unique perspective on relationship building and social interaction. Ami Baio is a game designer dedicated to crafting engaging, empathetic games that foster connection and allow individuals to feel seen and heard.
Her background as a massage therapist and personal trainer has provided her with invaluable experiences in both one-on-one and group settings, deepening her passion for communication and connection. Ami's diverse clientele and volunteer work in oncology at a Tacoma, Washington hospital have honed her ability to connect with others during both joyful and challenging moments in their lives.
Ami's games are built on this foundation, enriched by her personal studies in neuroscience, the science of emotions and trauma, personal growth, and self-care. She began her journey as a game designer in May 2017 when the idea for her first game, You Think You Know Me, emerged while making lunch for her son. From that moment on, Ami embraced her newfound passion and never looked back.
Ami has successfully raised over $95,000 across six crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter to independently fund the production of her games. Her creations can be found in over 500 stores in the United States and around the world, including in Barnes & Noble nationally.
In April 2020, Ami founded Pink Tiger Games, LLC, and has since sold over 50,000 self-published games worldwide. Her game, You Think You Know Me, was named Game of the Month at Barnes & Noble in February 2023. She has been featured in Portland Monthly Magazine, the Board Design Game Lab podcast, and Hello, Rose City!
Collaborating with talented artists such as Lisa Congdon, Ashley Goldberg, Agnes Barton-Sabo (aka Betty Turbo), Roselly Monegro, and Kirsten Holliday, Ami has managed to bring her unique visions to life.
Ami has been honored to receive multiple award nominations including a TAGIE (Toy and Game International Excellence Award) for Rising Star Innovator of the Year (2023) for Cloud Nine and Lost for Words, and she was chosen as a finalist for The Diana Jones Excellence in Gaming Award (2024).
A lover of reading, working out, and traveling, Ami is an avid collector of clothing and appreciates all things cute and colorful. She cherishes conversation and learning the magical and quirky aspects of everyone she encounters. Ami resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Andy, their child, Eliot, and a tiny dog named Sofie.
